Coach's Message

It is truly an honour and a privilege to be part of a team and community that are synonymous with Canadian hockey history. Along with this comes an expectation for great things for this organization, and I welcome the challenge and opportunity to be part of building the future of the Trail Smoke Eaters.

There is a certain pride that comes with belonging to an organization so rich in history, and this is especially true of the young men who have the honour of wearing the Smoke Eater jersey and thereby themselves become a part of the legacy. For those aspiring players raised in this area, we are committed to ensuring local players are provided with every opportunity to one day become a Smokie. Our organization will be working diligently with local Junior B organizations to establish and strengthen relationships to develope our young home-grown talent to reach their full potential.

I am very fortunate to have Brian Youngson and Barry Zanier join me on the bench and in the office. Their enthusiasm, experience and knowledge of the 2006-2007 Smoke Eaters will provide the neccessary link from which we will build to provide an exciting team for 2007-2008.

It is my belief that this team has the key ingredients for success this season, with a strong veteran presence, proven leadership and solid commitment for team excellence. We should be in for an exciting and memorable experience.
