GHIRARDOSI COMMITS TO QUINNIPIAC UNIVERSITY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Trail, British Columbia (May 15, 2018) – The Trail Smoke Eaters are excited to announce that Tyler Ghirardosi has committed to Quinnipiac University for the 2019-2020 season.

The Quinnipiac Bobcats compete in the 12-team Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference which is one of the six NCAA Division I conferences that battle for a berth to the Frozen Four each season. The Bobcats are coached by the legendary Rand Pecknold, who just completed his 24th season behind the bench and currently sits third amongst active NCAA coaches in wins. Quinnipiac is consistently ranked amongst the top hockey programs in the NCAA, having achieved four NCAA Tournament berths and two Frozen Four berths in the past six seasons.

Ghirardosi came to the Smoke Eaters after spending two successful seasons with the Beaver Valley Nitehawks in the KIJHL. In is rookie season in the BCHL, the power forward registered 19 goals and 21 assists in the regular season. His 40 points were good enough to make Ghirardosi the sixth highest scoring rookie in the league. During the playoffs, Tyler emerged as one of Trail’s most consistent and exciting players adding another 8 goals often in memorable fashion.

The team was not surprised by Ghirardosi’s success this past season and was expected that his strong play on the ice and high academic achievement off it, would be rewarded with an NCAA commitment sooner rather than later. “I’m very excited for Tyler committing to Quinnipiac. Tyler had such a great rookie season and playoffs for us, we look forward to helping him prepare to become a successful student athlete at the NCAA level,” said Craig Clare, Director of Hockey & Business Operations. The team’s Head Coach, Jeff Tambellini looks forward to helping Tyler develop in preparation for joining Quinnipiac. “I look forward to working with Tyler this year. I am expecting Tyler to provide leadership on and off the ice in the upcoming season. I am excited to help him develop into a dominant player in the BCHL that can step into the NCAA and have an immediate impact”.

The Smoke Eaters are very pleased to see another of our players commit to a quality school in the NCAA. As an organization, we are excited to help Tyler as he prepares to make the transition to the NCAA in 2019 and we expect that he will have tremendous success both as a Smoke Eater in the upcoming season and as a Quinnipiac Bobcat in the seasons that follow.
