For the second season in a row, the Canadian Junior "A" champions had a former Trail Smoke Eater on the roster.
Calgary product Tanner Hicks and the Brooks Bandits won their first-ever RBC Cup Sunday in Prince Edward Island.
Hicks, 21, skated with the Smokies during the 2011-12 season. After an early-season deal from Alberni Valley, Hicks scored 2 goals and 13 points in 24 games in Trail before being sent to the Bandits in January of 2012.
Since returning to his home province, Hicks has been part of two Alberta Junior Hockey League championship teams, and was a silver medallist at the inaugural Crescent Point Energy Western Canada Cup in Nanaimo earlier this month.
Hicks is committed to Manhattanville College (NCAA Division III) for next season.
