News – Smoke Eaters Announce 2022/23 Leadership Group

For Immediate Release

Trail, British Columbia (September 21st, 2022) – The Trail Smoke Eaters are excited to announce the 2022/23 leadership team with Evan Bushy announced as the Team Captain.

Bushy, from Thief River Falls, Minnesota, joined the Smoke Eaters last season and immediately became a staple both on the ice defensively and in the locker room, establishing himself amongst the leadership core as the season went on. This season he’ll take another step forward in that regard being named the team captain for 2022/23. Joining Bushy as part of the leadership core is forward #16 Brady Hunter and defencemen  #6 Jordan Hendry and #5 Ethan Willoughby, who will all wear an ‘A’ on their jersey’s this season.

“Leadership is such an important part of our group and our organization. Evan was selected as captain as he is a mature individual with a strong demeanor and has a professional approach in everything he does on and off the ice. We’ve picked four gentlemen to be our leaders but everyone in our room can be a leader, it doesn’t matter if you’re a first year guy or a third year guy, everyone can be a leader. The four players we’ve picked are familiar with what it takes to be a leader in this program and we as a staff are excited to recognize those four individuals who make up our leadership team” – GM & HC Tim Fragle

It’s a huge honour and it means a lot to me to be named captain and especially here in Trail with such a rich history, I’m excited to lead this group and get the season going, this means a lot to me.” – Captain Evan Bushy

The Smoke Eaters are thrilled to announce Evan Bushy as the team’s next captain as well as Brady, Jordan and Ethan as assistant captains for this season.

The Smoke Eaters kick their season off on Friday in Penticton, with their home opener set for Friday September 30th against the Cranbrook Bucks.
