Laframboise Started Smokie Comeback With Goal at :37 of Third Period

The Smoke Eaters traveled to Salmon Arm on Tuesday night for game three of their best of 7 series with the Silverbacks and took a 3-0 lead in the series with a dramatic come from behind victory.  In the game the Smokies fell behind 3-1 after two periods that set the stage for the comeback win.

There was no scoring in the first period that saw the Silverbacks outshoot the Smokies 11-4.

In the second period Trail got on the board first when Connor Brown Maloski scored his third goal of the series at 1:19 with assists going to Carter Cochrane and Luke Santerno.*  The Silverbacks tied the game at 5:33 on a 5 on 3 power play when Elijiah Barriga scored.  With the Smokies still down a man, Josh Latta put Salmon Arm ahead 2-1 with their seocond power play marker.  At 12:54 of the period Carson Boduc scored for Salmon Arm taking a 3-1 lead to the dressing room.

CONNOR BROWN MALOSKI – FIRST STAR-

The Smokies set the tone for the third period early in the frame when Josh Laframboise scored just 37 seconds in to pull Trail within 1.  Carter Cochrane and Linden Marshall assisted on the goal.*  In what was their best period of the game the Smokies kept up the pressure on the Backs and tied the game at 13:07 on a goal by Ross Armour who was set up in the slot by Connor Brown Maloski with Troy Ring collecting the other assist on the play.  Trail completed the comeback when Carter Cochrane put the Smokies up 4-3 at the 16:44 mark of the period.  Spencer McLean and Blaine Caton assisted on the goal.*  In the waning minutes of the game Salmon Arm pulled their goalie for an extra attacker but the Smokies held on for the win to take a 3-0 series lead.

CARTER COCHRANE HAVING STRONG SERIES – THIRD STAR

Connor Brown Maloski was named first star in the game with a goal and an assist.  Carson Bolduc of Salmon Arm was named second star and Carter Cochrane was named third star.   Fortis Energy Player of the Game was Salmon Arm’s Elijiah Barriga.

The fourth game in the series goes in Salmon Arm tonight.  Game time is 7:00 pm.
