Smoke Eaters sign Okanagan Hockey Academy product Ridge Dawson for 2021/22
Trail, British Columbia (May 14th, 2021) – The Trail Smoke Eaters are excited to announce the newest member to the squad ahead of the 2021/22 season in forward Ridge Dawson from Kelowna, BC.
Dawson, who captained his team at the Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA) this season will join the Smoke Eaters for the upcoming season as he makes the jump to Junior A hockey. A player who was highly sought after by both Major Junior and Junior A teams, Dawson has picked the Smoke Eaters as he takes the next steps in his development. The 17-Year-Old from Kelowna has been apart of the OHA for three seasons. While this season, like so many others, was an abbreviated season, Dawson was tied for the team lead in points with 14 in nine games, scoring five and adding nine helpers. Last season, while still playing in the U18 age bracket as a 15/16 year old he had 18 points in 29 games.
“Ridge will bring speed and a high compete level to our program, along with strong leadership skills. He’ll be a key player for our team for the coming years and we’re excited to have him commit to our program and thrilled he chose to take the next steps in his hockey development with the Smoke Eaters organization.” – HC & GM Tim Fragle
“I am very exited to be joining the smoke eaters, it’s such an amazing organization and can’t wait to get started!”
The Smoke Eaters are excited to add Ridge to our organization and would like to welcome him and his family to the team. We look forward to seeing him in the historic orange and black in the Fall.
