The Smoke Eaters beat Penticton 4-1 last Saturday in Trail, in their biggest game of the season.
Tonight’s tilt in Penticton is even bigger.
The franchise-record 13-game winning streak has the Smokies just two points back of the league-leading Vees.
Last weekend’s win also halted Penticton’s 18-game points streak, which included 15 wins.
Meanwhile, the Smokies 3-2 win in Penticton on January 4, was one of the three overtime setbacks suffered by the Vees during their run.
Smokies centreman Jason Stefanek looks to extend his impressive 13-game point streak, with 10 goals and 18 assists during that period, to move into eighth in the BCHL points race.
Fellow California kid and line mate Christian Kim is riding a league-high 7-game goal scoring streak, with points in 11 games in a row.
Kim has collected 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points during his run and is 10th overall among BCHL point producers.
He scored twice in last Saturday’s game against the Vees.
Zach Coutu completes that terrific trio.
The 19-year-old has 15 points in 10 games since joining the Smokies from the AJHL.
Vees centreman Luke Posthumus had his nine game points streak snapped last Saturday.
Trail leads the season series 3-2, with a pair of 4-1 home ice victories, along with the overtime triumph in the Okanagan.
The Vees recorded November victories of 4-1 win in Trail and 7-3 in Penticton.
Opening face off at the South Okanagan Events Centre is set for 7 p.m.
