The Smoke Eaters and Chiefs play the second of their two-game series and wrap up the season set this afternoon in Chilliwack. The Chiefs were victors in the team’s first meeting in late October at the Trail Memorial Centre, handing Trail a 5-2 loss. Carter Jones and Kent Johnson scored in the game for the Smoke Eaters while Adam Marcoux stopped 29 of the 33 shots he faced in the game.

Trail will look to close their weekend with four of a possible six points and get back in the win column after a 3-1 loss to the Langley Rivermen on Saturday night from the George Preston Arena. Bryce Anderson opened the scoring in the game and scored the lone marker for the Smoke Eaters in the contest. Adam Marcoux stopped 22 of the 25 shots he faced in the game in his 16th loss of the season.

16-year-old goaltender Logan Terness will make his first career BC Hockey League start this afternoon as the Smoke Eaters take on the Chiefs. The Burnaby, BC native has gotten into one game this season, making 16 saves a week ago against the Penticton Vees on home ice. Terness has played nine games with the Vancouver North East Chiefs of the BC Major Midget League, holding a 5-1-0-1 record to go along with a 1.75 GAA and two shutouts.

Smoke Eaters forward Tyler Ghirardosi has had a strong weekend over the course of Trail’s two Mainland Division games. The Montrose, BC native has collected a pair of assists over his last two games included with 11 penalty minutes over the last two games and his first career BCHL fight on Friday night.

The Chilliwack Chiefs enter play on Sunday afternoon with a 23-10-0-0 record and sit 2nd in the Mainland Division after a 5-0 loss on home ice on Saturday against the Powell River Kings. The shutout was the second of the season for the Chiefs as they were held to no goals on September 30th in Victoria against the Grizzlies. Daniel Chenard stopped 16 of the 21 shots he faced in the game in his 1st loss of the season.

The Chiefs will get a big boost back into their lineup this afternoon with the return of Kevin Wall, who has missed the last two games due to a suspension. The 18-year-old, Penn State University commit leads the Chiefs in points and sits 4h in the league in scoring and comes back at a big time with 17-year-old forward Harrison Blaisdell away from the club to compete with Team Canada West at the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge.

After playing 31 games a season ago between the pipes for the Chiefs, 19-year-old Daniel Chenard made his first start of the season on Saturday against the Kings. The Waterloo, Ontario had offseason surgery to recover from and posted a 3.07 GAA and a .893 SV% in his 31 games a season ago.

The Chiefs have made Prospera Centre one of the toughest places to play this season, bolstering a 12-4-0-0 record on home ice, which is good for 4th best in the BCHL. Chilliwack has outscored their opposition by a 54-45 margin at home and have won five of their last seven games at the Prospera Centre.
