TRAIL, B.C. – The Trail Smoke Eaters Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club is pleased to announce forward Walker Erickson (’02) and defenseman Jordan Hendry (’02) have committed to the team for the 2019/20 season.

Erickson, 16, is entering his second season with the Valley West Hawks of the BC Major Midget League (BCMML), posting 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points while registering 40 penalty minutes in playing all 40 regular season games with the Hawks during the 2017/18 season. The Surrey, BC native collected a goal and an assist for two points in the Hawks three-game playoff series against the Vancouver North East Chiefs.

“Walker brings a wide array of skills and is a strong skater,” commented Smoke Eaters General Manager and Head Coach Jeff Tambellini, “He fit right in with our group in the time he spent here in preseason and we think he can be a productive player in this league next season.”

Hendry, 15, played alongside Erickson as a part of the Hawks during the 2017/18 campaign, registering 2 goals and 9 assists for 11 points to go along with 24 penalty minutes while playing in each of the 40 games during the regular season. The 5’8”, 150-pound defender added two penalty minutes during the three-game playoff series against the Chiefs.

“Jordan impressed us through Main Camp and has all the skills to be an impressive young defenseman in this league” continued Tambellini.

Both of Erickson and Hendry played in three exhibition games with the Smoke Eaters and will join the team as affiliate players during the 2018/19 season.

The Smoke Eaters would like to welcome Walker, Jordan and their families to the City of Trail and the Smoke Eaters organization.

The Smoke Eaters welcome the Salmon Arm Silverbacks to town on Friday, September 14th in the first of six regular season meetings with the first 750 fans in attendance receiving a four-pack of Smoke Eaters player hockey cards!
