OJHL’S SMITH ACQUIRED BY SMOKE EATERS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Trail, British Columbia (June 25, 2018) – The Trail Smoke Eaters have made a move to acquire defenseman, Jeremy Smith from the Toronto Jr. Canadiens of the Ontario Junior Hockey League in exchange for future considerations. Smith will be joining the Smoke Eaters for his 20-year-old season after playing the past two with Canadiens. The 5’10”, 185 lb rear guard totalled 33 points in 33 games last season, a point-per-game pace that was tops amongst defensemen in the OJHL.

Head coach, Jeff Tambellini was pleased to be able to secure a defenseman of Smith’s caliber. “We are extremely excited to add Jeremy to our roster. He is a highly competitive offensive defenseman who will add leadership and experience to our defensive group. We believe Jeremy’s ability to mix high-end skill with an aggressive desire to defend, will allow him to play in all situations for our team.”

We would like to welcome Jeremy and his family to the Trail Smoke Eaters organization. We look forward to helping him reach his academic and hockey goals and are excited to see him play next season.
