PREVIEW: Smoke Eaters Battle Centennials In Mid Week Tilt

Coming off Sunday’s 2-1 shootout win over the Prince George Spruce Kings, the Smoke Eaters turn their attention back to the Centennials for a Wednesday night clash at Cominco.

2020/21Extended Training Camp Schedule

Nov. 18 Merritt @ Trail 7:00 pm PST
Nov. 21 Trail @ Cranbrook 6:00 pm PST
Nov. 27 Trail @ Cranbrook 6:00 pm PST

The Smoke Eaters come into Wednesday nights game winners of four of their last five games, looking to win their fourth straight.  The Smoke Eaters will want to replicate their performance from last Thursday when they shutout the Centennials 5-0 at Nicola Valley Memorial Arena. The Smoke Eaters have also allowed just one goal in their last two games, while scoring 6. The Smokies also outshot the Centennials 46-22 last week, as they controlled most of the possession from start to finish. Things also got a bit heated last week with multiple players getting misconducts in the third period, despite a large number of new players on either side the high intensity and obvious dislike for each other from last year seems to have carried over. The Smoke Eaters will once again want to shoot from everywhere tonight if Josh Dias starts, as he was one of the best players for the Centennials last week.

Smoke Eaters leading scorers:

Sweeney (2-6-8)
Michaud (3-3-6)
Schiavon (3-3-6)
Dafoe (4-1-5)
Disher (2-3-5)

The Centennials will be looking for a little revenge after having a week off, as the 5-0 loss to Trail was their last game. The Cents have allowed 10 goals in their last two games, scoring just once, a trend they’ll desperately want to switch coming into tonight’s game. The Cents also play their first of back to backs on the road tonight as they’ll head to Cranbrook for a game against the Bucks on Thursday night before they finish off their preseason schedule at home this Saturday. With a record of 1-4 so far the Cents will want end their preseason on a high before two weeks off and the start of the regular season. It will be the first game back at Cominco for two former Smokies in Trevor Isaksson and Walker Erickson, who will want to make an impact against their old club in their old building.

Centennials leading scorers:

Isaksson (1-2-3)
Ward (2-0-2)
Orchard (1-1-2)
Valente (1-1-2)
Hungle (1-0-1)
