The Smoke Eaters head to Penticton for the for the 2nd time in 3 weeks for a Wednesday night matchup against the Vees. The last time these teams met it was the Vees who snapped a 4 game losing streak, and the Smoke Eaters 10 game point streak. Tonight the Smoke Eaters come in with a five game point streak while the Vees have won their last five games. The Smokies are coming off that shootout loss on Saturday to the Silverbacks and sit just four points behind the Vees, for first in the interior. An incredible feat given the start the Smoke Eaters had, but since then are 13-1-1-1 over the last 16 games. A run that has seen Kent Johnson and Mike Colella jump to the top of the BCHL scoring charts, with Owen Ozar just two points out of third place himself. Ozar again finds himself on a seven game point streak and was given an honourable mention in the BCHL Player of the Week for his 1G-6A week. Philippe Lapointe was also given and honorable mention for collecting eight points in the past week, that included 4G-4A. Lapointe also has goals in his last three games.

The Smoke Eaters will go to Penticton looking to make their mark in the season series vs the Vees, who have won all three meetings so far. The last game saw the Vees sneak out a 4-2 win as Jay O’Brien got an empty net goal with the Smoke Eaters knocking at the door in the final minutes of the third. They’ll hope for some bounces to go their way tonight.
