PREVIEW: SMOKE EATERS LOOK FOR CLEAN SWEEP AGAINST THE WARRIORS

The Trail Smoke Eaters wrap up a busy weekend with an afternoon game against the West Kelowna Warriors, looking to go six for six against their interior division rivals.

October 25th @ Royal LePage Place 4-3 SOW (BOXSCORE)

October 26th @ Cominco Arena 8-2W (BOXSCORE)

December 13th @ Cominco Arena 4-3W (BOXSCORE)

February 7th @ Cominco Arena 5-4W (BOXSCORE)

February 17th @ Royal LePage Place 2:30pm

The Smoke Eaters make their second last road trip of the year as they wrap up a three game weekend. The Smoke Eaters have picked up a win against Alberni Valley and are coming off a loss to the Coquitlam Express, a game that was much closer than the 5-2 scoreline suggests. They now get set for their final meeting of the season against the Warriors, looking to go 6/6 on the season series. The Warriors didn’t make it easy during the last encounter as the Smoke Eaters needed a third period surge to comeback and win 5-4. With their first round playoff match up now confirmed, it’s not all about points with three games left but rounding out their game against an opponent that gave them trouble a week and a half ago. Kent Johnson and Michael Colella will be relishing the opportunity to put up a few points. Johnson has 19 points in five games so far this year including a hat-trick in the last game. Colella has also tallied ten of his own this season against the Warriors.

Last ten games: 7-2-0-1

Smoke Eaters leading scorers:

Johnson (41-57-98)
Colella (26-38-64)
Ozar (22-39-61)
Lapointe (20-35-55)
DiMurro (6-30-36)

The Warriors made a late push, and while they have made the post season they’ll now be forced to face the Penticton Vees in the first round. Going 0-4-1 in their last five the Warriors quest to finish above Prince George has gotten away from them. That being said the Warriors have still put up very strong performances, taking the Smoke Eaters right to the bitter end of regulation and taking the Vees to overtime. They’ll wrap up the season next weekend with a home and home against the Vernon Vipers. Their line of Tyler Evans, Tyler Cristall and Brandon Pigeon have been a bright spot for the Warriors at this point of the season. They’ll be key again this afternoon if the Warriors want to pull one back against the Smoke Eaters.

Last ten games: 3-5-1-1

Warriors leading scorers:

Evans (19-25-44)
Cristall (16-23-39)
Wilkie (12-20-32)
Ardanaz (4-28-32)
Pigeon (8-17-25)
