Preview – Smoke Eaters Look To Bounce Back Against Spruce Kings

The Smoke Eaters will look to get back in the win column tonight as they host the Prince George Spruce Kings in the final meeting of the year between the two teams.

Season Series Against Prince George

Nov. 18 Prince George 4 at Trail 3 Final
Jan. 27 Trail 4 at Prince George 2 Final
Jan. 28 Trail 3 at Prince George 4 Final OT
Jan. 29 Trail 2 at Prince George 4 Final
Feb. 4 Prince George at Trail 7:00 pm PST

The Smoke Eaters are more than familiar with the Spruce Kings, with this being the fourth meeting in the last five games for both these teams. The Smoke Eaters failed to find the net early last night despite generating plenty of opportunities. The task doesn’t get any easier tonight as the Smoke Eaters find themselves down a regular forward once again as Ridge Dawson left the game early and would not return. That mixed with the already lengthy list of forwards already missing due to injury will stretch the Smoke Eaters thin tonight. Despite the 4-1 score line there was a lot to like about the way the Smoke Eaters played the game, if they can do that again tonight and convert on some of their chances they’ll be in a good position to pick up two points.

Smoke Eaters leading scorers:

Hunter (10-23-33)
Cobetto-Roy (10-21-31)
Bushy (5-22-27)
Remissong (14-12-26)
Parsons (11-12-23)

The Spruce Kings fell a goal short last night in Cranbrook as they continue on their three game road trip. The Bucks were able to add two in the third period after giving up a 2-0 lead to hold on for a 4-3 victory. The Spruce Kings will continue on to Salmon Arm after tonight’s game as they find themselves in another three in three weekend. The Spruce Kings also have a few injuries of their own as they could have two AP’s in the lineup themselves. With Jordan Fairlie playing last night in Cranbrook its likely the Smoke Eaters will face Aidan Fedema, who played last Saturday’s 4-3 overtime game.

Spruce Kings leading scorers:

Herrington (17-19-36)
Schneider (16-13-29)
Fraser (10-17-27)
McGregor-Bennett (8-18-26)
Primerano (6-18-24)
