PREVIEW: Smoke Eaters Wrap up home stand with visit from Powell River

TRAIL SMOKE EATERS GAME NIGHT REPORT

The Smoke Eaters will look to build off  a positive showing from Saturday as they host the undefeated Powell River Kings for a rare Wednesday nighter at Cominco Arena.

The Smoke Eaters are coming off a 3-2 OT loss to the Salmon Arm Silverbacks Saturday night, in a game that they felt they deserved more from. Logan Terness kept the team in it through the first with a very positive showing by the 16-year-old, who in his first start of the year stopped 42 of 45 in the loss. The offence was denied the winner at many points of the game, including two showstoppers by the Salmon Arm goaltender Dylan Kruss. They’ll look to give whichever goalie Jeff Tambellini chooses some more run support as they look for their first win of the year.

Season series vs. Powell River

September 18th 7pm @ Trail Memorial Centre

November 15th 7pm @ Hap Parker Arena

Last Season 2W-1L GF 8 / GA 6

Last 5 years: 6W-5L

Powell River Kings 4-0-0 (1st in Island Division)

Trail Smoke Eaters 0-3-1 (6th in the Interior Division)

The Smoke Eaters will look to put a halt to the hot start of the Kings who come in winning all four of their opening games. The high powered offence of the Kings has scored at least five goals in all of their games scoring a total of 25 goals through 12 periods of hockey. Like the Smoke Eaters the Kings have opened their season with a stretch of home games to start their campaign and so far have taken advantage of playing at home.

The Kings come to Trail at the start of a long nine game road trip that will see them play away from Hap Parker Arena until October 11th. They also bring with them the leagues leading scorer through the opening two weeks of the season and the recently named BCHL POW Levi Glasman. Glasman is coming off a six point weekend that helped the Kings get a 5-2 win over the Chiefs and a 7-2 win over Cowichan.

Puck drop is at 7pm at Cominco Arena. Tickets are $14 for adults, $5 for youth and kids 12 and under get in free. You can also catch the game on HockeyTV or Mixlr with Ben Phillips and Rob Squires starting at 6:50pm.
