PREVIEW: Smoke Eaters wrap up the weekend against the Chilliwack Chiefs

The Trail Smoke Eaters wrap up their weekend set at home with a meeting from the Chilliwack Chiefs who make the journey to Trail.

Regular season vs Chilliwack

November 23rd @ Cominco Arena 7pm

December 8th @ Chilliwack Coliseum 2pm

Last season vs Chilliwack 0-2

The Smoke Eaters will look to knock off the Chiefs as they complete a weekend at home vs the Mainland division. Following last nights 4-4 tie against Langley the Smoke Eaters will want to have a repeat of their start, where they jumped out to a 3-0 lead. A lead they let slip away, something they won’t want to do against this Chiefs team. Special teams should be fun to watch tonight as well with the top two power plays in the league going head to head. The Chiefs power play is operating at 26.4% with 29 goals on 110 chances. But on paper the advantage lies with the Smokies PK which is fourth at 87%.

Smoke Eaters leading scorers:

Johnson (21-31-52)
Colella (13-25-38)
Ozar (12-24-36)
DiMurro (5-20-25)
Ghirardosi (12-12-24)

The Chiefs come to Trail following a 4-0 win last night in Penticton over the Vees. The Chiefs have had a mixed string over their last ten games going 5-3-2. The Chiefs like the Smoke Eaters will send five players to the WJAC in a few weeks time, including NHL draft prospect Ethan Bowen who leads the Chiefs in scoring with 9 goals and 17 assists. The Chiefs will try and wrap up their weekend with a win, in a building they haven’t fared to well, with just one win over the last five seasons in Trail.

Chilliwack Chiefs leading scorers:

Bowen (9-17-26)
Nesterenko (9-13-22)
Larson (9-12-21)
Penney (9-9-18)
Reynolds (7-10-17)

Game time is 7pm as the Smoke Eaters look to take two points against the Chiefs. If you can’t make it to the game catch all the action on HockeyTV or Mixlr starting at 6:50pm with Ben Phillips and Rob Squires.
