RECAP: Smoke Eaters explode in the first win 5-1 in West Kelowna

The Trail Smoke Eaters will breathe a sigh of relief as they pick up a massive 5-1 win Saturday night for their first of the year.

The Smoke Eaters came out flying in the first period going 3/3 on the power play as DiMurro would open the scoring 5:53 into the game as Ozar found him from the goal line at the point with a seeing eye wrist shot that beat the West Kelowna netminder. The Smokies kept going with Tyler Ghirardosi banging in a rebound to make it 2-0

The Smokies would get their third of the period courtesy of Owen Ozar, who put the puck in off the back of Baierto make it 3-0. The Warriors would get one past Terness however late as Dent would beat Terness to make it 3-1 going to the break.

Trail would come out and get one more to restore the lead as DiMurro picked up his second of the game in his 4 point night on a 2-on-1 with Colella

Trail would get one more power play goal in the third as Ghirardosi would grab his second of the night as he again found a loose puck in front to make it 5-1 and send the Smokies back to trail in high spirits.

Logan Terness picked up his first BCHL win of the year, Kent Johnson had five assists and DiMurro grabbed a first start to go along with his four points.

They’ll head home and meet the Victoria Grizzlies Sunday evening at Cominco Arena with both teams wrapping up a 3 game weekend.
