It was a long time coming but when the Smoke Eaters finally scored last night it was a sigh of relief for everyone. The Smoke Eaters would get two late and looked back to normal after hitting a roadblock called Jett Alexander. Friday nights win could be a big momentum swinger in this series with the Smoke Eaters riding a high while the Spruce Kings will feel a bit deflated the way the game ended. However with the heated encounter between the two teams after the horn had gone may be fuel for both these sides. The Smoke Eaters will want to get the power play going tonight given they had six chances last night and were unable to score on all of them. The power plays weren’t without their chances though, which would be concerning otherwise. The Smoke Eaters depth also showed last night with all four lines creating chances and pressuring the Spruce Kings. It was also the third line that got the opening goal with Matt Osadick, Max Kryski and Connor Sweeney. Trail will look to keep the foot on the gas pedal tonight as they try for a 2-0 series lead.

Smoke Eaters Leading scorers:

Lapointe (1-0-1)
Osadick (1-0-1)
Connor (0-1-1)
Johnson (0-1-1)
Kryski (0-1-1)

Prince George will feel hard done by given they played a near perfect game for 55 minutes before they saw a game 1 victory slip from their grasp. You can’t fault the effort or the goaltending and if the Spruce Kings bring more of that tonight it will be another close game. The Spruce Kings lone goal came on a 5-on-3 power play in the first, while they created a few chances outside of that they’ll want to get more shots on Terness, knowing that a 1-0 scoreline often isn’t enough to win hockey games. PG’s top four 4 also played a lot of minutes last night and we’ll see if fatigue comes into this one at all. It is a lot of hockey for bother sides with four games in five nights, not including the travel. The Spruce Kings will have to play a bit of desperate hockey as going down 2-0 in the series could prove too much for any team to come back from.

Spruce Kings leading scorers:

Bochen (1-0-1)
Waite (0-1-1)
