For Immediate Release

Trail, British Columbia (January 17th, 2023) – The Smoke Eaters are excited to announce the signing of defenceman Cameron Johnsen for the upcoming season!

Johnsen, from Victoria, BC, is playing with the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (PCHA) U18 team. Named team captain this year, Johnsen has six goals and five assists from the blueline in 19 games.

The 17-year-old, 6’2, right shot defenceman attended the Smoke Eaters main camp in September and earned the opportunity to play in  two preseason games in Wenatchee.

“Cam is one of the top dman in the CSSHL. He has a high IQ, strong work ethic and is a consistent defender. We believe he has a very high potential to be a top defender in the league and we look forward to helping him develop his overall game.” says GM/Head Coach Tim Fragle.

“When I first got into Trail and saw the facilities and the way the town rallies behind the team I knew it was a place I wanted to play.  I’m super excited to work with the coaching staff and my teammates in the upcoming season” – Johnsen

The Smoke Eaters would like to welcome Cam and the entire Johnsen family to the Smoke Eaters organization and the City of Trail. We look forward to seeing Johnsen in a Smoke Eaters jersey come next season!
