Smoke Eaters Add Former Nova Scotia Major Bantam MVP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Smoke Eaters sign former Nova Scotia Major Bantam MVP

Trail, British Columbia (September 30th, 2020) – The Trail Smoke Eaters are excited to announce the signing of Nova Scotia native Brady Hunter for the 2020/21 season.

The Smoke Eaters bring in Hunter to help bolster their squad as they continue preparations for the upcoming season. Hunter and 18-year-old from Enfield, Nova Scotia, played last season in the North American Hockey League, splitting his time between the Minnesota Wilderness and the Northeast Generals. Prior to his move into Junior A, the young centreman led the way in the Nova Scotia Major Midget and Major Bantam leagues. In 2016/17 he had 47 points in 33 games as he was named the Major Bantam MVP, Top Offensive player, First team All-Star while also winning a team championship. Hunter followed that up in 2018/19 with another first team All-Star nod, adding 50 points in 36 games, this time at the Major Midget level, as he led the league in assists with 29.

“He will bring a high work ethic and experience to our group. He had good offensive numbers coming out of U18AAA and solid numbers in his first season of Junior A considering the opportunity he was given. We’re hopeful he can improve our depth up front.” HC&GM Tim Fragle.

Hunter is expected to join the team early next week.

The Smoke Eaters would like to welcome Brady to the City of Trail and to the Smoke Eaters organization.
