SMOKE EATERS ANNOUNCE NEW OPERATIONS STAFF

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Trail, British Columbia (August 08, 2018) – The Trail Smoke Eaters are excited to announce additions to our hockey operations staff.

The Trail Smoke Eaters have hired former MJHL Assistant Coach, Dustin Korlak. A Stonewall, Manitoba native, Dustin will be joining the Trail Smoke Eaters as an Assistant Coach for the 2018-19 season. Korlak, 29, spent the previous two seasons (2016-2018) as an Assistant Coach in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) with Dauphin & Waywayseecappo.

Before joining the MJHL as a coach, Dustin was a defenseman in the MJHL from 2006-2010, making stops with Southeast, Swan Valley and Selkirk. Following his junior career, Dustin signed overseas to play professional hockey in Germany (Hannover, Adendorf), and Netherlands (Turnhout) from 2010-2012.

General Manager, Jeff Tambellini is thrilled to add Korlak to the staff, saying “With the addition of Dustin Korlak, we are a better staff today. Dustin brings a great wealth of defensive playing and coaching experience, which will only help our defensemen develop and have success. We want to provide our players with every resource possible in Trail and we feel Dustin will be an outstanding addition to our staff and our city.”

Korlak also adds a wealth of scouting and recruitment experience, having worked as a scout with ISS Hockey and for Gold Star Sports Management Group as a regional scout. Additionally, Dustin is currently a Western Canadian Pro Scout for the Coventry Blaze in the EIHL, a professional team in the UK.

Dustin, his wife, Jenna and daughter, Lennyn are very excited to be joining the Smoke Eaters Organization and are looking forward to moving to Trail.

Korlak joins General Manager and Head Coach, Jeff Tambellini, Assistant Coaches, Jessie Leung, Barry Zanier and Kyle Hope on the Smoke Eaters coaching staff for the 2018-19 season.

The Smoke Eaters are also excited to announce the hiring of Bobby-Jean Leier as our Athletic Trainer.

Bobby is a Kinesiologist, majoring in Human Kinetics. She obtained her degree in her hometown at the University of Regina. While studying in Regina, she had the privilege of spending two seasons with the University of Regina Rams Football Club, gaining a wealth of knowledge from her Sport Physio superiors. It was then that the opportunity to work in junior hockey and lacrosse came and she never looked back.

Bobby-Jean found her passion for working with athletes at the young age of 14, as she volunteered as a student athletic trainer. For the past 12 years, Bobby has dedicated her life to training and treating elite athletes in hockey, football and lacrosse within Saskatchewan.

Bobby spent last year with the Jr. A Weyburn Red Wings of the SJHL and the previous 6 years with the Extreme Hockey Regina Capitals of the PJHL. She is also the full-time athletic trainer for the Barracuda Lacrosse Program, which involves novice to junior level athletes and for the Team Saskatchewan PeeWee national team.

Bobby is thrilled for her next chapter in Trail, BC and can’t wait to become an intricate part of the community.
