Smoke Eaters Welcome the World Champions to Trail

Trail Smoke Eaters to close the exhibition schedule against Canada’s National Women’s Team.

Trail, British Columbia (September, 20th, 2021) – The Trail Smoke Eaters, in conjunction with Hockey Canada and BC Hockey, are excited to announce a special exhibition game, as the Smoke Eaters will face off against Canada’s National Women’s Team.

Fresh off their gold medal at the Women’s World Championship, Team Canada will come to Trail as part of a two day event that will see them host coaching clinics on Sunday October 3rd, leading up to the showdown on October 4th at 7pm when Marie Philip-Poulin will lead Team Canada against the Smoke Eaters.

“We are extremely excited to get our centralization schedule started and play against teams from the BCHL to aid in our preparation for the Olympic Winter Games,” said Gina Kingsbury, director of hockey operations with Hockey Canada. “We are grateful to both Trail and Cranbrook for their willingness to be part of our training as we start our season. The level of competition we expect to face is crucial in our journey and we look forward to showcasing our athletes to hockey fans in both communities.”

Following the game Team Canada will continue on the road to face the Cranbrook Bucks on Tuesday night to wrap up their Kootenay swing. Tickets for this game go on sale on TODAY, September 20th @  and are $16.00 for everyone – Adults/Seniors/Youth and just $5 for all female minor hockey players in the area. To pre-book your seat you can buy your tickets ahead of time at or at the Smoke Eaters office between 9am-4pm Monday to Friday. Tickets bought at the door on game night will be best available and seating choice will not be an option. Limited capacity due to on going regional restrictions.
