Bryan Kromm New Assistant Coach

Trail, British Columbia (July 1, 2024) – The Trail Smoke Eaters Hockey Club would like to announce the hiring of Bryan Kromm as the team’s Assistant Coach & Director of Player Development.

Kromm comes to Trail after spending the last three seasons with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point as the team’s assistant coach. During that span, the team posted a record of 62-18-7 and qualified for the NCAA tournament twice. Prior to coaching, Bryan played four seasons with the University of Jamestown (ACHA). He also has ties to the Trail Smoke Eaters history as his father, Richard was born in Trail and is currently a pro scout with the Chicago Blackhawks. His grandfather Bobby Kromm was part of the Trail Smoke Eaters 1961 World Championship Team as a player-coach and played for the Smoke Eaters in the WIHL for six seasons.

“I’m thankful for my time in Stevens Point and the amazing people I’ve been able to work with. Coach Krueger and countless others have given me the experience and support I’ve needed to make it to the next level. I’m excited for the opportunity in Trail and look forward to working with young rising stars in such a prestigious league. While developing these young men, I also hope to make an impact in the community and contribute to the already rich history of hockey in Trail.”

“We are excited to hire Bryan to the Smoke Eaters organization. He checks a lot of the boxes we were looking for in hiring for this position and his addition to the staff will further add to the player development programming we already have in place. He has a sharp mind for the game and will bring an exciting dimension to the hockey operations staff. We are thrilled to have him join our team.”

The Smoke Eaters organization would like to welcome Bryan to the city of Trail and look forward to having him start his position on July 16th. In the coming weeks, the organization will make further staffing announcements to the hockey operations team for the 2024-25 season.
