FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Smoke Eaters sign high end Calgary Buffaloes U18 product Brendan Ross for 2021/22

Trail, British Columbia (January 25th, 2021) – The Trail Smoke Eaters are excited to announce the signing of Calgary born forward Brendan Ross from the Calgary Buffaloes U18 team for the 2021/22 BCHL season.

Brendan Ross, younger brother to current Smoke Eater Justin Ross, is a 17-year-old from Calgary, Alberta, and is a product of the Calgary Buffaloes minor hockey team. During the 2019/20 season the 6’1″, 185lbs forward had 14 goals and 16 assists for 30 points in 32 games. He also helped the Buffaloes win the prestigious “Macs Tournament” last season, claiming the title as one of the top midget teams in the country. The year prior while playing U16 hockey, Ross also had outstanding numbers, scoring 26 times and adding 22 assists over a 32 game season. This year with limited game time Ross has seven points in six games with the Buffaloes.

“When looking for a place to play junior hockey, I found Trail to be a great fit for me. Everything about the Smoke Eaters organization including ownership, management, coaching staff, facilities, fans and culture is second to none.  With this opportunity I am extremely excited to further develop my skills as a hockey player and make positive contributions within the community. I’d like to thank my family, and the Calgary Buffaloes for helping me get to this position; I’m looking forward to putting on the Smoke Eaters jersey next year and adding to their already rich history.” – Brendan Ross

“Brendan is a right shot forward that brings a mixture of skill and size to our team. He has been a player of interest for our program for a while and we are glad he chose to commit to the Smoke Eaters.” – HC & GM Tim Fragle

The Smoke Eaters would like to welcome Brendan to the team and the City of Trail and we look forward to having him join us in the fall for the 2021/22 BCHL season!
