FOUR IN A ROW FOR SMOKE EATERS

Dyment named First Star making one of his 34 saves.

The Trail Smoke Eaters played the best home game of the season last night defeating the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 4-1.

Luke Santerno led the way for the Smokies with two power play goals including the game winner.  Goalie, Zach Dyment, of the Smokies was name the “Fortis Energy Player of the Game” as well as first star, making 34 saves on 35 shots.  Trevor Kozlowski, back stopper for the Silverbacks, was named second star and Spencer McLean of the Smokies was third star.

The Smokies struck first and early in the first period at 1:59 when Ryan Warner scored on a feed from Spencer McLean.

Luke Santerno scored his first power play goal of the game at 12:30 of the second period, with assists going to Ross Armour and Kale Howarth.  Salmon Arm made it 2-1 at 14:33 of the period.

In the third Luke Santerno tallied his second power play goal of the game at 5:40.  Assisting on the goal was Kale Howarth and Ross Armour.  Joshua Lamframboise, a former Silverback, rounded out the scoring for the Smokies at 14:15 with his 8th goal of the season.  Assists went to Ryan Murphy and Ross Amour.  It was Armour’s third assist of the game.

The Smokies have now pulled in front of West Kelowna for fourth place in the Interior Division 3 points ahead of West Kelwona and only one point behind second and third place Merritt and Vernon.

The Smokies will now try to make it five in a row at home on Friday night at the Cominco Arena when they play the Nanaimo Clippers.  The Smokies defeated the Clippers in Nanaimo last Friday 2-1 in overtime.  Game time on Friday is 7:30 PM.
