GAME DAY | TRA at SGS

It’s time for the Smokies to put on their road warrior hats.

They play the first of six straight games away from Cominco Arena tonight (Friday) in Spruce Grove.

The mission is to rebound from a 1-and-3 start, but their lone win was a 5-3 road victory in Cranbrook.

Dysen Drake has goals in back-to-back games.

The 19-year-old power forward scored against the Bucks and had Trail’s lone goal, a shorthanded marker in Wednesday’s 4-1 loss to West Kelowna in Trail.

He also just missed on a chance to tie the game early in the third period versus the Warriors.

The game against West Kelowna also marked the debut of defenseman Kallen Ray.

The rugged 19-year-old rearguard joined the Smokies immediately after playing for the Alaska based Kenai River Brown Bears at the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota.

The Saints (2-2) have ten returning players from the team that finished with a 29-22-2-1 record last season, however their top point man is rookie Lucas Achim with a goal and four assists.

Veterans Junior Podien and Felix Haibock have four points each.

The Saints won their first two games of the season at home and have dropped their last two games on the road, while the challenge for the Smokies will be to score on more of their chances as they have outshot their opponents in all four games.

Game time is 6:00 p.m. Pacific with all the action on Mixlr and FloHockey.

The next home games at Cominco Arena are October 17 (vs Chilliwack), 23 (vs Salmon Arm), 24 (vs Spruce Grove) and 31 (vs Blackfalds). Good seats are still available at Tickets.TrailSmokeEaters.com.
