The Trail Smoke Eaters Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club is pleased to announce forward Kent Johnson (‘02) has been named a finalist for the Bruce Allison Memorial Trophy for the Rookie of the Year award.

Johnson, 16, has had an outstanding rookie season in the BC Hockey League, posting 20 goals and 25 assists for 45 points in his 55 games played this season. The Port Moody, BC native leads all 2002-born players in points and sits 8th in scoring amongst all rookies.

The 6’1”, 167-pound forward has seen his play rewarded with a commitment to the University of Michigan Wolverines. Johnson has dazzled with plenty of slick moves, displaying his strong hands as well as collecting his first career BCHL hat trick on January 5th in West Kelowna.

Johnson is the Interior Division representative and joins forwards Kevin Wall of the Chilliwack Chiefs (Mainland Division) and Alexander Campbell of the Victoria Grizzlies (Island Division) as finalists for the Bruce Allison Memorial Trophy with the award winners being announced at a later date.

The Smoke Eaters conclude their regular season schedule with a home-and-home set against the West Kelowna Warriors beginning on Friday night at Royal LePage Place. The game will be broadcasted live with a free audio link at mixlr.com/trail-smoke-eaters as well as on pay-per-view on HockeyTV.com
