Preview – Smoke Eaters Head Back To West Kelowna To Face Warriors

The Smoke Eaters will wrap up their season series with the Warriors tonight, as they head back to Royal LePage Place in West Kelowna, looking to build off their overtime win from Monday against the Vipers.

Season Series against the Warriors

Oct. 8 West Kelowna 3 at Trail 4 Final OT
Dec. 10 West Kelowna 2 at Trail 4 Final
Jan. 6 Trail 3 at West Kelowna 4 Final SL OT
Feb. 18 Trail 2 at West Kelowna 5 Final
Feb. 24 Trail at West Kelowna 7:00 pm PST

The Smoke Eaters will look to exact a bit of revenge on Friday night as they head back to West Kelowna, a day shy of a week since they found themselves on the wrong side of a 5-2 score line with the Warriors. The Smoke Eaters played well, but missed to many chances in the second period when they had plenty of possession. Something they’ll be looking to fix as they lineup against the Warriors again tonight. The chance of getting more players back from injury looks promising again this weekend for the Smoke Eaters, with Judah Makway very close to a return and Ethan Mann not to far behind. That being said the Smoke Eaters can’t focus on who isn’t in the lineup, but continue to use who they do have available to them. Josh Schenk has goals in three of his last four games and points in five straight, while Hunter is also on a five game point streak, with 11 points over those five games. Hunter has now had 5 consecutive multi-point games for the Smoke Eaters as he continues to lead the team in points.

Smoke Eaters leading scorers:

Hunter (14-30-44)
Cobetto-Roy (10-24-34)
Remissong (15-15-30)
Bushy (5-24-29)
Marshall (12-14-26)

West Kelowna will look to defend home ice once again as they host the Smoke Eaters for the final time this season. The Warriors followed up last Saturday’s 5-2 win over the Smoke Eaters with a 9-1 win over the Merritt Centennials. The win officially secured the Warriors a spot in the BCHL Playoffs with 10 games remaining on their schedule. Riley Sharun, who had two on Saturday against the Smoke Eaters added two more, including the game winner on Monday against the Centennials. The Warriors will follow up tonight’s game with another meeting against the Centennials on Sunday afternoon.

West Kelowna leading scorers:

Moriello (21-20-41)
MacDonald (18-17-35)
Hlusiak (13-22-35)
Salandra (14-18-32)
Norlin (3-28-31)

The season series wraps up tonight in West Kelowna, as the Smoke Eaters, 2-1-0-1 in the previous four games, look to close out the series with another win. A win that will hopefully bring them within five points of the Vipers, who they face on Saturday night back on home ice. Catch all the action tonight from Royal LePage Place on HockeyTV or listen in on Mixlr. Puck drop is 7pm, with the pregame show starting at 6:50pm.
