Preview – Smoke Eaters Hit The Road to West Kelowna

Looking to get back in the win column, the Smoke Eaters pack the bud for a two game road trip that starts Friday night in West Kelowna.

Season Series against the Warriors:

Oct. 8 West Kelowna 3 at Trail 4 Final OT
Dec. 10 West Kelowna 2 at Trail 4 Final
Jan. 6 Trail at West Kelowna 7:00 pm PST
Feb. 18 Trail at West Kelowna 7:00 pm PST
Feb. 24 Trail at West Kelowna 7:00 pm PST

The Smoke Eaters have won both meetings so far against the Warriors this year as the season series makes it’s first appearance at Royal LePage Place in West Kelowna. Despite back to back losses last weekend the Smoke Eaters are still 6-3-0-1 in their last 10 games, which included a 4-2 win over the Warriors. The Smoke Eaters are kicking off a busy month of January on the road that will take them as far west as Langley and as far north a Prince George. But as always and especially with road games the Smoke Eaters will take it one game at a time and will look to regain some ground in the interior conference.

Smoke Eaters leading scorers:

Cobetto-Roy (8-18-26)
Hunter (8-18-26)
Fechko (9-14-23)
Remissong (12-10-22)
Parsons (10-11-21)

The Warriors are also coming off a loss and will be looking to bounce back after a 9-2 shelling from the Vees last Friday. Like the Smoke Eaters the Warriors come in on a two game slide after back to back defeats to their closest rivals. 4-4-2 in their last ten games, the Warriors have seen their hold over second place slip and they’ve dropped into the middle of the chaos that is seeds three through eight of the Interior Conference. Both teams have had successful powerplays this season and in the games they have faced each other, with the Warriors going 2/6 in over the past two meetings and have the third ranked powerplay in the league, just above the Smoke Eaters.

Warriors leading scorers:

Moriello (15-11-26)
Hlusiak (7-17-24)
MacDonald (10-13-23)
Norlin (3-19-22)
Salandra (8-13-21)

The season series switches to West Kelowna with both teams looking to snap a two game slide as the Smoke Eaters battle the Warriors tonight at Royal LePage Place. Catch all the action on HockeyTV or listen in on the Smoke Eaters mixlr, with the Teck Trail Pre-Game report starting at 6:50pm!
