The Smoke Eaters welcome in the Wenatchee Wild on Saturday night as they look for their third straight win and back to back wins on home ice for the first time this season.

The Smoke Eaters look for back to back home ice wins and their third in a row tonight as they host the Wenatachee wild for the second time this season. It was a back and forth thriller the last time these two teams met with the Smoke Eaters taking the decision 6-5 in overtime. Trail is coming off a 5-3 win Friday over the Nanaimo Clippers that saw them jump out to a nearly three goal lead. That lead was slowly chipped away at by the Clippers but the Smoke Eaters got third period goals from Charlie Strobel and Brady Hunter to secure the victory. Now after a strong performance last night they’ll look to stay undefeated against the Wild, who are still looking for their first win of the season.

Smoke Eaters leading scorers:

Michaelis (6-3-9)
Disher (3-4-7)
Lagerback (3-4-7)
Hunter (2-5-7)
Cunningham (2-5-7)

It was one to forget last night for the Wild, who lost 8-2 to the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. Despite still looking for their first win of the year, the Wild have taken three of their five games to extra time, earning points against Penticton, Trail and Powell River. They still remain one of the youngest teams in the BCHL despite making a few moves since they last faced the Smoke Eaters with forward Ean Somoza who’s committed to Western Michigan and defenceman Mario Gasparini who is committed to Vermonth. That should help the wild get back on track. Wenatchee has one more weekend on the road next week in Vernon before they get a home game when they host the West Kelowna Warriors.

Wild leading scorers:

Littler (2-2-4)
Parker (1-3-4)
Ivey (1-1-2)
Troumbly (1-1-2)
Emerson (1-1-2)

The Smoke Eaters go for three in a row tonight, puck drop at 7pm at the Trail Memorial Centre. Tickets are still available at tickets.trailsmokeeaters.com or you can watch the game on BCHLTV or listen on Mixlr.com
