The Smoke Eaters got things going early last night, as Owen Ozar scored just 16 seconds in. They’ll have loved the start but will want to keep that momentum going through the entire opening twenty minutes tonight. As the Vipers found their way back into the game with 2 quick goals to take the lead in the first period. But Kent Johnson came through to tie the game for the Smokies. On Friday night the Smokies also had problems setting up and getting shots on the man advantage as the Vipers PK was strong, sending the Smoke Eaters to the dressing room without a power play marker on the night. While The Smoke Eaters PK finally was beaten last night. The Smoke Eaters thought have continued to put goals in the net regardless of the scenario, as they now lead league with 91 goals scored. The Smoke Eaters on their run of 15-1-1-1 have score 82 goals, averaging 4.55 goals a game. Remarkable considering Trail only score nine goals in their opening six games.

Smoke Eaters leading scorers:

Johnson (19-26-45)
Colella (13-24-37)
Ozar (11-19-30)
DiMurro (5-15-20)
Ghirardosi (7-9-16)

The Vipers will look to come into Cominco looking for a split following Friday nights game. The Vipers out shot the Smoke Eaters in the first two periods, and after getting two by Matteo Paler-chow were on the front foot for a moment. But a quick answer slowed their momentum and allowed the Smoke Eaters to regroup in the 1st intermission. The Vipers also has success down the wings as their speed caused a few problems for the Smoke Eaters defence. They’ll look to exploit that again tonight. They may be without one of their top defenceman in Trey Taylor who received a game misconduct at the end of last nights game. If it was issued as more than a ten minute misconduct, the already banged up Vipers could lose another piece of their puzzle.

Vernon Vipers leading scorers:

Marritt (9-8-17)
Kowalski (7-10-17)
Sleeth (2-8-10)
MacDonald (6-3-9)
Holt (4-5-9)

The Smoke Eaters and Vipers will wrap the weekend up tonight at 7pm from Cominco arena. The Smoke Eaters will look to continue their dominant play, extending their point streak to eight games. While the Vipers will be out for some revenge. You can catch the game on HockeyTV or Mixlr starting at 6:50pm with Ben Phillips, as the Smoke Eaters look for another two points against their own division.
