Preview – Smoke Eaters make a pit stop in Langley to Take On the Rivermen

Looking to rebound after Friday nights shootout loss in West Kelowna, the Smoke Eaters hop over the Coastal Mountains into the lower mainland to take on the Langley Rivermen.

The Smoke Eaters face off against the Rivermen for the only time this season, as they look to head home with a possible three of four points on this road trip. The Smoke Eaters got themselves out to a 3-0 lead on Friday night in West Kelowna, however a few turnovers and some key saves from Warriors netminder Angelo Zol down the stretch allowed the Warriors back into the game to eventually force overtime. Despite that the Smoke Eaters played a generally strong game, they’ll be looking to duplicate that tonight.

Smoke Eaters leading scorers:

Cobetto-Roy (9-19-28)
Hunter (8-19-27)
Remissong (13-11-24)
Fechko (9-14-23)
Parsons (10-12-22)

The Rivermen come into tonight’s game losing 3 in a row after falling last night to the Surrey Eagles. Langley is in transition from the team that challenged for the top spot in the Coastal Conference last year. Ajeet Gundarah has played the majority of the games for the Rivermen and has put up some strong games but as a group have yet to find consistency. Kovacevic and Levvy have lead the way offensively through the middle part of the season while former Smoke Eater Garrett Valk leads the team defensively. The Rivermen also have a solid home record this year, going 5-7-1-1 at George Preston.

Rivermen leading scorers:

Levyy (17-11-28)
Kovacevic (7-14-21)
Oakley (9-9-18)
Kim (5-11-16)
Munroe (7-8-15)

Puck drop from Langley is at 7:15 as the Smoke Eaters wrap up their two game road trip. Catch all the action on HockeyTV or listen in on Mixlr.com.
