RECAP: Terness Backstops the Smoke Eaters to a 4-2 Win over the Bucks

The Smoke Eaters got their bounce back as they earn their second win of the year with a 4-2 win over the Cranbrook Bucks.

Back stopped by strong goaltending from Logan Terness the Smoke Eaters jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening frame. Just 1:42 into the game it was Jackson Krill scoring his first BCHL goal from Coalson Wolford that got the Smoke Eaters rolling.

Then 12 minutes later Carson Hemenway scored his first as a Smoke Eater with a shot from the left point that beat Bucks goaltender Jay Thomson over the shoulder to make it 2-0. The Smoke Eaters capped off the first period with another BCHL first, this time from Zack Feaver who out waited the defenceman in front of him and found a lane through to score his first junior A goal. A goal that would stand as the eventual game winner.

In the second the Bucks worked their way back into the game scoring twice. Once at 4:44 of the second period as Tyson Dyck from the high slot let fly a wrister that beat the Smoke Eaters netminder and got the Bucks back into the game. Terness, who made multiple highlight reel saves in the second would be beat once more on a shorthanded 2-on-1 break for the Bucks as Rhys Bentham scored his first BCHL goal to bring the Bucks to within 1 heading to the middle frame.

The third period was controlled and managed by the Smoke Eaters who got their insurance marker from Quinn Disher at 6:56 of the period. Disher scoring his second of the year and his sixth point of the campaign helped seal the victory for the Smoke Eaters. The Smoke Eaters improve to 2W-3L on the year and will have to comeback to the SOEC for a Sunday afternoon tilt with the Penticton Vees at 4pm.
