Smokies Slide Continues

The slide continued for the Smokies in West Kelowna last night as they lost to the Warriors 8-1 in Kelowna.  The Warriors scored the first three goals of the game and never looked back.  They added 4 more goals in the second and one more in the third.   Trail’s lone goal came late in the first period when Harlan Orr scored with the assist going to Kienan Scott.

MacBurnie and Marshall shared the goaltending duties for the Smokies with MacBurnie playing one period and Marshall playing two periods.  MacBurnie allowed 3 goals and Marshall 5. Smokies were in good shape coming back after the Xmas break with three games in hand over the Vernon Vipers and only one point behind them for the fourth and final playoff spot.  They are now in fifth place and three points behind the Vipers and Vernon has a game in hand.   They are two teams going in the opposite direction and things won’t get any easier this weekend.  The Smokies play a home and home series with the Penticton Vees.  The Smokies travel to Penticton on Friday and are back home on Saturday.   Game time is 7:30 PM at the Cominco Arena.
