Led by Captain Connor Brown Maloski the Smoke Eaters will be playing in the BCHL Showcase this weekend. The Smokies play teams at both ends of the standings in the Island Division. On Saturday the Smokies play Powell River Kings who are currently in last place with a 1 – 4 record and on Sunday they face Victoria who lead the division with a 4 -1 record.
Each season, the teams of the BCHL gather to compete in one venue, before hundreds of pro and college scouts.
And while the games count towards the regular season point standings, for our players, these games are an opportunity to excel and showcase their talents in front of scouts from across North America.
For fans, the Showcase event, newly expanded to four days, is an opportunity to catch teams from across the Province as they descend on the host city for one action-packed ‘long weekend’ of hockey!
And for our valued scouts, the practical benefits of seeing all our players compete in one location over four days helps make their jobs a little easier!
