Defenceman – Simon Snyman
The Trail Smoke Eaters have committed to Simon Snyman, and Ian Makar for the 2017/18 season. Both players are in the Okanagan Hockey Academy Red Prep program this season. The Red Prep program prepares players for Junior A hockey.
“Snyman, a defenceman, makes a great first option pass,” quoted Smokie Coach/GM Cam Keith. “He has the ability and vision to find the right second and third option passes and has an acute sense for the game.” “Simon is also the Captain of his club this year which speaks about his character.” “We welcome Simon and his family to Trail.”
When asked on his signing, Simon quoted, “Growing up in the Okanagan watching BCHL hockey, it has always been my goal to play in the league.” “It is an honor to play Junior A hockey for a team with such a decorated history as well as a great fan base.” “I’m very excited to be part of the organization.”
“Ian Makar, a center, has elite speed, and offensive instincts that will immediately translate to the BCHL level,” quoted Smokie Coach/GM Cam Keith. “We would like to welcome Ian and his family to the Smoke Eaters.
“Playing in the BCHL has been my goal for many years,” quoted Ian. “I’m excited to be playing for such a great organization.” “It is an honor to be part of a team and town like Trail and I’m looking forward to getting things started in Trail and taking my game to the next level.”
Cam Keith has signed both players as affiliate players this season.
