The Smoke Eaters come in well rested ahead of tonight’s match up against the Penticton Vees, who are yet to receive their first loss. At the root of it the Smoke Eaters base expectation tonight is a better effort. On both occasions last week the Smoke Eaters were hit by six goals from the Vees leading to a 6-0 and a 6-1 loss, both efforts that Tim Fragle said were not to the levels he knows this team can and should be playing at on a night in and night out basis. As the Smoke Eaters begin another busy week they’ll be looking to start it off the right way. One of the keys will be the Smoke Eaters using their physicality effectively against Penticton, which the Smoke Eaters have shown at moments but need to have that mindset for the entire game. Over the last few games the Smoke Eaters have had ups and downs but the bright spots continue to be the youth of this team. Quinn Disher leads the team in points and he’s not the only rookie that’s been producing. With some of the results not going their way the long term outlook from that is an exciting thing for the Smoke Eaters going into next season.

The Vees are coming off a 4-0 win over the Cranbrook on Monday night and have allowed just one goal in the last two games, that one goal coming shorthanded from Cameron Moger of the Smoke Eaters. But at 6-0 everything is going right and probably as planned for the Vees. The Vees have scored 31 goals in just six games with Luc Wilson leading the way with six himself. The Vees have continually made the Smoke Eaters pay for their mistakes, something they’ll look to continue to take advantage off from this young team. The Vees have also become increasingly dangerous on the powerplay with 5 goals on 30 attempts. Their penalty kill has been perfect, killing off all 18 penalties they have taken. With a 6-0 record expect Penticton to not let up at all going into tonight’s game.
