TRAIL, B.C. – The British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) announced their 2019 All-Stars on Thursday afternoon with Smoke Eaters forward Kent Johnson named to the All-Rookie team.

Johnson, 16, had a terrific rookie season in the BC Hockey League, posting 20 goals and 26 assists for 4) points in his 57 games played this season. The Port Moody, BC native led all 2002-born players in points and sits 8th in scoring amongst all rookies.

The 6’1”, 167-pound forward has seen his play rewarded with a commitment to the University of Michigan Wolverines. Johnson has dazzled with plenty of slick moves, displaying his strong hands as well as collecting his first career BCHL hat trick on January 5th in West Kelowna.

Johnson joins a pair of Chilliwack Chiefs forwards in Kevin Wall and Matt Holmes along with defenders Nick Bochen of the Prince George Spruce Kings and Pito Walton of the Coquitlam Express while Vernon Vipers goaltender Aiden Porter got the honour between the pipes.

The Smoke Eaters open the postseason on Friday night in Game #1 of their best-of-seven Interior Division Quarterfinal against the Merritt Centennials. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 PM from the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena with the game being broadcasted live on mixlr.com/trail-smoke-eaters as well as pay-per-view at HockeyTV.com beginning at 6:45 PM with the Voice of the Smoke Eaters, Trevor Miller.
