Smoke Eaters acquire Cody Schiavon from the Surrey Eagles.
Trail, British Columbia (October 24th, 2019) – The Trail Smoke Eaters are excited to announce they have acquired defenseman Cody Schiavon from the Surrey Eagles
Schiavon, a veteran of the BCHL comes to Trail after spending the last two season with the Surrey Eagels, where he was an assistant captain last year, and the teams captain this year. The Kelowna, BC native has strong family ties to the City of Trail and will bolster the Smokies defense with his dynamic playing style. So far this year Schiavon has four goals and 6 assists in 17 games for the Eagles. The Smoke Eaters send Liam Freeborn and Kieran O’Hearn to the Eagles. The Smoke Eaters also acquire the CJHL playing rights of Justyn Gurney, who is currently playing in the WHL with the Everett Silvertips.
Schiavon, a 19-year-old right shot defenseman, is one of the most dynamic two-way defenceman the BCHL has to offer, while being defensively sound in his own end. Schiavon also brings with him a NCAA commitment to Yale University for the 2020-21 season.
