The Smoke Eaters will look to sweep the season series against the Centennials when they face off on Friday night, with the Smoke Eaters winning the previous four meetings. The Smoke Eaters will also have their eyes on going into the Christmas break on their best stretch of the season. With just two games before a week long break the team is focused on the task at hand at first it’s the Merritt Centennials, who took them to a shootout last week. Over the last 7 games the Smoke Eaters have turned a page and the consistency is there for everyone to see. They’ve gotten the starts they wanted for the most part and have kept with the game plan right through to the end, that being clear in Saturday’s win over the Warriors. Despite four previous wins over the Centennials the Smoke Eaters can’t overlook their opponents, who will be looking to bounce back after an 8-0 trouncing on Wednesday night from the Vees.

Smoke Eaters leading scorers:

Cobetto-Roy (8-15-23)
Hunter (7-16-23)
Bushy (3-17-20)
Remissong (10-9-19)
Fechko (7-12-19)

The Centennials wrap up their first half with a swing through the Kootenay, with stops in Trail and Cranbrook. The Cents will be hoping they can put together a similar performance as they did a week ago, taking the Smoke Eaters to a shootout, but this time coming out on the winning side. Merritt followed up last week’s shootout loss to the Smoke Eaters with a dominant 6-0 win over the Cowichan Valley Capitals. However they would be undone just as easily on Wednesday night as the Penticton Vees rolled into town and handed them a 8-0 loss.
