Preview: Smoke Eaters Return home to face the Victoria Gizzlies

The Trail Smoke Eaters return home to wrap up their three game weekend with a visit from the Victoria Grizzlies Sunday evening at Cominco Arena.

The Smoke Eaters are coming home in high spirits after a statement win last night in West Kelowna over the Warriors. They got goals for their big guns as DiMurro picked up two goals and two assists, Tyler Ghirardosi scored a pair including the game winner and Kent Johnson was in on four of the five goals for the Smokies picking up four assists on the night. Logan Terness also picked up his first BCHL win stopping 33 of 34. The Smoke Eaters will look to carry that moment into today’s game at home vs the Grizzlies.

Regular Season vs the Grizzlies

September 22nd @ Cominco Arena 5pm

October 12th @ The Q Centre 7pm

Last Season 0W-2L

The Smokies will have their hands full with a hot Grizzlies team coming to town. Despite falling 5-3 to the Salmon Arm Silverbacks last night the Grizzlies were sporting a 3 game win streak that saw them beat Merritt, West Kelowna and Vernon. The Grizzlies are also wrapping up a three game weekend set before they head home for their home opener vs Powell River next week.

HIGHLIGHTS – Smoke Eaters pick up emphatic 5-1 in West Kelowna

As Smoke Eaters Head Coach Jeff Tambellini eluded to last night, despite his side playing their fourth game in five nights he’s asked his guys to grind out these next few hours and pick up another win. The Smoke Eaters will have time to rest, after tonight they only play one game over the next 12 days. They’ll look to have their special teams play a big part in tonight’s game with the Smokies going 4/6 on the man advantage last night and also going 4/4 on the penalty kill.

Puck drop is at 5pm with the pregame show starting at 4:50 with Ben Phillips and Rob Squires.
