RECAP: Smoke Eaters extend win streak to five with big win over PG

The Smoke Eaters are winners of five in a row following a 7-4 win over the Prince George Spruce Kings Saturday afternoon at the SOEC

The Smoke Eaters came out strong again to open the game scoring at 15:42 as Kyle Budvarson would get his first of the year coming down from the point to put one past Mcgovern to get the Smokies going. Mike Colella who has had a stellar weekend got his name on the goal column again with a power play marker with 56s left in the first as Johnson fed him for a one timer that Colella made no mistakes with. The Smoke Eaters dominated possession and out shot the Spruce Kings 11-1 as Buskey had a quiet first period.

Things got interesting to start he second. Colby Elmer would score his third in as many games to make it 3-0 before PG stormed back getting two quick goals to make it a one goal game. The Smoke Eaters would answer back however as Colella would get two in the middle frame to complete his first BCHL Hat-Trick. Putting his name into the hat for Player of the Week with 5 goals this weekend. Ozar would also get on the board in the second with a power play marker to make it 6-2 going to the break.

Prince George would again come out and score early to make it 6-3. Kent Johnson once again got a goal to make it 7-3 on a 2-on-1 where he kept and shot. PG would get one more on the PP late to make it 7-4 but the game was far out of reach at that point.

Mike Colella caps off a fantastic weekend with 5 goals and 4 assists in two games. Kent Johnson also took over the scoring race with four more points today against PG.

The Smoke Eaters win streak will now be put to the test next weekend as they start a 3-in-3 starting Friday night in Cowichan against the high flying Capitals
