The Smoke Eaters are once again coming off a win against the Cranbrook Bucks as they come into today’s game against the Vees. It was 4-2 Smokies on Saturday night as strong goaltending and the young guns lead the way with Jackson Krill and Zack Feaver scored their first BCHL goals, while Hemenway added his first in a Trail uniform and early standout Quinn Disher added his second goal of the campaign. The Smoke Eaters who started strong on Saturday will need that same start today against a undefeated Penticton team that put six unanswered on the board against  them on Thursday. The game management in the third however was a positive for Tim Fragle’s side. The bend but not break effort in the third helped seal the game after the Bucks stormed back in the second period. Fragle has been preaching 60 minutes to his club and that will be no different today.

Smoke Eaters leading scorers:

Disher (2-4-6)
Wakeford (3-2-5)
Wolford (2-2-4)
Szeto (2-2-4)
Helliwell (0-4-4)

The Vees are 4-0 to start the 2020/21 pod season, but the hometown side looked vulnerable on Friday night against the Bucks, allowing multiple leads slip away finding themselves in a 3-3 tie in the second before Jacob Quillan scored the game winner in the final minutes of the second. Kaeden Lane has been fantastic for the Vees, playing all four games so far and allowing just seven goals against, just one against the Smoke Eaters. From a Vees perspective they can’t let the 6-0 win from Thursday get into their heads, as the Smoke Eaters will be looking to avenge that loss and hand the Vees their first loss of the year. Penticton is high on confidence right now given their hot start.
