Johnson, Ghirardosi and Connor Named Alternates

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Smoke Eaters Name Three Alternates for the 2019-2020 Season

Trail, British Columbia (August 29th, 2019) – The Trail Smoke Eaters are proud to introduce the alternate captains, who will lead this group along side captain Phillipe Lapointe  for the upcoming season.

Tyler Ghirardosi, Kent Johnson and Powell Connor have been named as part of the leadership group for the 2019-2020 season.

“We are very fortunate to have such a strong leadership group this season. All of our Captains have earned this role because of there work ethic on the ice and professionalism off the ice. Tyler, Powell and Kent all have different leadership styles which we believe will compliment Phillipe Lapointe.” – GM&HC Jeff Tambellini

Ghirardosi is coming into his third full season with the Smoke Eaters. Now as a twenty year old Ghirardosi not only brings an offensive threat to the lineup but a veteran presence as well.

Johnson is also a returning player for the Smoke Eaters who is also one of the younger guys on this team. Still only 16 years of age, he is a clear leader within the dressing room. As Johnson looks to grow on his impressive rookie season, he’ll now be tasked with an off ice responsibility.

Connor who split last season between the Chilliwack Chiefs and the Smoke Eaters has made his presence known in just a short time in Trail. Connor brings a wealth of experience, including an RBC cup championship, to the team and the defence.

The Smoke Eaters have two preseason games remaining. Both take place this weekend as the Smokies play a home and home series vs the West Kelowna Warriors starting Friday night in Trail. Game two goes Saturday at 6pm in West Kelowna. Both games can be caught on HockeyTV and Mixlr.

Tickets for Friday’s game are $5

The season opens Friday, September 6th at home vs the Penticton Vees.
